WHAT ABOUT JESUS?
That is the question on many lips, since many generations. Herod heard about the birth of Jesus and was troubled. He was afraid for his throne. But Jesus didn’t come to share Herod’s throne. Rather, He came to give Herod hope and peace. Do you value your career, your big name, your wealth and your so called security above the true life that Jesus offers? Who is Jesus to you? A Prophet? A Teacher? Or just another man who lived in history?
He is more than all these combined. Jesus is the Lord of the whole earth (Phil. 2:9-11) He is also the coming Great Judge unto whom all men, including you, will give account. (Acts 17:30; Rom. 14:12; Eccl. 12:14)
Are you prepared for the day of judgement when you ALONE will stand before Him? It is going to be an awesome sight. Money won’t help on that day. Position, connections and membership of secret societies will not be relevant. Only a personal repentance from your sins and reconciliation with God today, and now, will save you on that day. Jesus said in rev.3:20 and Jn. 14:6, “behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him and he with me… Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me”.
Are you prepared to come to the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE/ then pray this prayer sincerely with all your heart:
“Father, in Jesus Name, I have sinned against you by my deeds and words. I deserve to die for my sins. But I understand that you have made your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die in my place. I ask for your mercy and forgiveness. Wash me with the blood of Jesus. I renounce my sins. Save my soul from eternal death. Give me eternal life. I believe in my heart that God hath raise him from the dead. I open the door of my heart, Lord Jesus come in and live in me. Father than you for saving me”.
Have you tried to love someone genuinely? May be you have made a lot of sacrifices to ensure that your love is made real to the person. Perhaps too, the person has heard or read of your love and the various ways you’ve been trying to express it. But instead of welcoming your good gesture and loving you in return the return the person has always hated and antagonized you, always ganging up with people to war against you. How do you described such a person? Simply, an enemy by choice!
You could be this enemy, you know? God, your creator, has done everything heavenly and earthly possible to express his love to you. First, he has given you his true and unfailing word, the Bible (II Tim. 3:16; Isaiah 40:8; Numbers 23:19).
Second, he has given Jesus Christ, His beloved son who died for your sins, so you would not perish (John 3:16; Romans 5:6-8; 6:23). Third, he has provided victory for you over sin, the Devil and his cohort (Luke 10:19; Romans 8:37). And fourth, he has designed that you can have access to God’s inheritance, live meaningful life here and have a hope of heaven (John 10:10; Romans 8:17).
What have you done about it? You have ignored Him, gone you own ways (Isaiah 53:6; Jn 5:22-23), and co-operated with the arch-enemy to war against God (I John 3:6). Yet you need Him (Genesis 2:7; John 15:5). Perhaps you have been calling on him but he has not heard you or answered you (Psalm 66:18; Isaiah 59:1-2). Will you continued like this, hopelessly groping in the darkness of this world (Duet. 287:39; Prov. 4:19)? Wont’ you come to the light (John 8:12)?
The only way out for you is to realize the delicate position you have put yourself – that of an enemy by choice (Prov. 1:22-23). Then, in repentance come to partake in what God had already prepared for you (Romans 5:6-11; Isaiah 55:7).become an object of His love (John 15:13-15) and daily seek to please him (Psalm 1:1-3). God bless you as you become a friend of God.
When the first man, Adam fell, he sought ways to cover his nakedness. He made human efforts to reconcile with God. This, in the main is what religion is, it is man’s way of reaching God. The best is can do for you is given you a feeling of satisfaction that you are doing the right thing. (Prov. 14:12). But is religion sufficient? No matter how it is done, whether in the church, in the mosque, in the shrine, or in a philosophical/cultural setting. It can never bring peace. Why? The Bible has the answer.
“Therefore being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 5:1). You need something more real, more secure, something you can hold on to when the storm of life comes. You need something beyond religion. You need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jon 1:12 says “But as many as received Him (I.e. Jesus Christ), to them He gave power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name”. You need to become a son/daughter of God. How come you?
First, realize that you need Jesus. What made Adam to fall out of God’s favour and covering was sin – sin is disobedience. If you have ever done anything wrong in your life, however small, then you have fallen out of favour with God (Rom. 3:23; 1 Jn. 1:8). Thank God, that is why God has sent Jesus. No matter what anyone has told you about Him – whether good or bad it will never add to, or diminish his stature, power, and ability (Heb. 13:8). Yielding your life over to him will however make you come onto favours with the Almighty God.
Secondly, you need to repent of your sins, you need to have a change of altitude towards God, towards sin and towards Hell – the Ultimate destiny of unrepented sinners (Rev. 20:10-15). You need to for sake you old and evil ways. The Bible commands: “Let the wicked forsake his ways, and the righteous men his thoughts: let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon” (Isa 55:7).
Thirdly you need the power to go and sin no more. Again, it is Jesus alone who can guarantee you such power over sin and the tempter. This is because none of the many great religion leaders whether dead or alive had any victory over the devil. Hear what Jesus says: “I am he that liveth, and was dead and behold I am alive fir evermore, Amen, and have the keys of hell and of death.” (Rev. 1:18). Not only this, He conquered the devil and his hosts of demons: “For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death – that is the devil. And (thereby0 deliver them who through the fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Heb. 2:14-15). How did Jesus accomplish this great feat? The Bible explains it: And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Col. 2:15).
Come the winning side, come to Jesus. All power still belong to Him. Open your heart to Him and ask Him to come in. region, philosophy, white garment, holy water, sacrifices, Tiras, Charms, Amulets, Incisions, Rosaries, Cult membership, all will fail you. But Jesus can never fail. “But as many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them believe on His name”.
